Parent Appraisals

As a parent, I really enjoyed the program. I have seen a change in my daughter's study habits as well as an increased interest in her schoolwork. This is a great program because I am not able to teach her English grammar skills. This has caused her to become more responsible with her homework because she is now able to complete it. The tutor would engage my daughter by using different reaching methods. This program benefits kids that are not meeting their full potential.

At this time, I would like to let you know that I am very happy with your tutoring program because my children are learning a lot. The tutor that you assigned is excellent and we are seeing a lot of progress in the time that he has been with my children. The tutor is very knowledgeable in the tutoring of the subject. My son has trouble with his speech, but thanks to this program he is now a much better reader and is frequently reading just for leisure.

Teacher Appraisals

TCCF's tutoring philosophy is based on engaging the parents and schools with the tutoring services provided to the students. Developing a community of learners for the student is imperative to the student's long-term academic success.

The following comments were submitted to TCCF from teachers in the Barstow and Perris School Districts. Tutoring for these students took place from October 2006-January 2007.

  • One letter from a teacher of a 5th grade student receiving math tutoring, explained that her average math exam score has improved from 43%-45% to 67%, and is now approaching a “proficient” level in math.
  • One teacher's progress report from a 1st grade student enrolled in English language arts tutoring reported “phenomenal” improvement and fluency.
  • The teacher's progress report from a 3rd grade student who received tutoring in Language Arts was noted that she definitely saw improvement as the student's grades went up after tutoring.
  • A 4th grade student who received tutoring in Math, received the teacher's praise of improvement in fractions as well as for her willingness to now help her classmates.
  • One teacher noted that her 7th grade student has had a notable change in attitude once he started getting tutored. His math grade has improved since receiving tutoring services.
  • Multiple progress reports from teachers indicated the same as the teacher of a 7th grade student that received tutoring in Math: The tutoring has helped this student bring her grades up this unit. The student is much more confident, asks a lot of questions and is now a very active learner.
